Read the Newzie

I downloaded Newzie the other night. I admit, I’d missed it. For about 12 months it was my desktop rss reader of choice, but its ‘busy’ UI and the fact that it was a huge resource hogger on my pc in both memory and CPU made me remove it from my machine before Christmas last year.

So, I download, I launch it, and WOW. What the hell happened here? It looks like they just decide the old look just wasn’t working – it wasn’t – and went back to the drawing board and gave it one hell of a makeover. They kept the good bits, like viewing the feeds a s a slideshow and by sorting feeds (colour coding) on how recently they have been updated (you can also choice alphabetical and priority), stats, keyword filtering, search.

It will also monitor websites/pages that don’t have feeds for changes. I believe the phrase I originally used to describe the interface was cluttered. I don’t think it is anymore. There is still a lot on offer, but it’s not all in your face anymore, which is good.

I need time to play around more, but I am quickly remembering why I liked it so much before.
